Serious artist since 1983, focused on photography in, 1990. Darkroom rat for many years. Found that I hated the commercial side of being a photographer. In 2006, made the full switch to Digital and concentrated on the art side of photography.
I prefer to shoot people. I've devoted many a photo series based around capturing the character of a person. I see it as a challenge. While I have worked wth more amateur models, than professional, I enjoy working with both. Finding the right Muse, is crucial to an artist work.
I now consider myself a photographic artist, opposed to simply labeling myself as, a photographer. Doesn't really fit with what I do. Nothing I produce is straight from the camera to display. Everything is edited, warped, bent, pulled, etc..I make no apologies for this. I see this as my chosen area of art media...over edits are all part of what I do.
Tonal, HDR, Shadow/Highlight, 3D Luminosity, Skin softening/porcelin, etc..are just a few of my tricks. To accomplish this, I use a variety of editing programs. The goal is to create a fantasy look to the model, not reality.
While I enjoy shooting models, I also have a love for composite/concept. There are two sides to my portfolio. Two separate websites. KERRYRAYTRACYPHOTO
